Historically, anytime a Palama Set was presented in a tournament or demonstration the Kajukenbo Salutation was used first. It contains the following:
· Start in an open leg stance.
· Move to a position stance.
· Move to the squatting position.
· Move back to the position stance.
· Move you left foot back to 6 o’clock into a right forward stance and execute the hand salute (This represents the mind or knowledge).
· Then form a triangle with your hands by touching your index fingers and your thumbs together and then push the triangle forward, holding the triangle position (This represents the body - as the empty hands have no weapons).
· Move your hands in front of your chest into a “Praying” position with your palms touching (This represents the spirit).
· Move your left foot forward to an open leg stance.
· Move your right foot back to the position stance.
· Move to the squatting position.
· Move back to the position stance.
· Head motion to the left and then back to the center.
· Head motion to the right and then back to the center.
· Eye motion to the left and then back to the center.
· Eye motion to the right and then back to the center.
· Inhale, retain, and then exhale (Kiai).
· Move to the squatting position (Kiai).
· Move back to the position stance.
